Awakening The Power Within

The Institute is dedicated to adding values to education by promoting human values and the process of Educare. Educare is the origin of ‘Education’. It acknowledges that in each individual there is an indwelling consciousness. That consciousness is not separate from the universal consciousness that pervades the universe.

True education awakens the student to understand the answer to the question, ‘Who am I’. In the great philosophical tradition, it aids the student to ‘Know Thyself’

Once the indwelling consciousness is awakened, it will manifest through the student in his or her own unique way, and whatever they undertake will be vastly improved, for, this consciousness is the universal Spirit that dwells in all. It is the basis of life, and from it, all knowledge stems. The greater the awakening, the greater the impact will be on the individual’s contribution to the welfare of the society in which he or she lives.

Just as the one power grid powers all the electrical appliances in a vast city, so the universal consciousness is the power that flows through all life forms. None have the potential for the light to shine more brightly than humans. Whether it does so or not depends on the ability of the individual to ‘plug in’. When we are true to our inner self we are greater conductors of this power. When we deny our conscience and what we know is right, we weaken the connection to this universal sustaining force.

The Institute is part of an international network, with access to the growing resources of Sathya Sai Educare, a programme initiated in India by the Chancellor of the Institute of Higher Learning, Sathya Sai Baba. Having proven its efficacy in India with educational facilities from primary schools to universities, the programme is now being adopted by countries throughout the world.

Students at the Sathya Sai School in Zambia came into the school as failures and rejects, unable to pass the necessary state exams to enter secondary school. Within one year of participation in the Sai School programme, these same students were topping the state exams. Within three years the local press were calling the school, ‘Sai Miracle School’. For many years our societies have placed increasing emphasis on the negative values of hate, anger, greed, jealousy, lust, and egoistic pride, through television, films, and other media. The impressions portrayed enter the subconsciousness and have their influence. Crime, bullying, teen suicides, broken marriages, and increasing violence to both individuals and the planet itself have increased throughout the world.

The Sathya Sai Educare programmes are based on five universal human values and a large number of sub values, or virtues, that flow from them. Together they make up the qualities that empower individuals, leading to them being respected, giving them a sense of self worth, and empowering them to lead happy and meaningful lives, fulfilling their own unique potential.
